Gemma Berry is an innovative leader in nonprofit development who combines her passion for humanitarian and social justice causes to advance the mission of the nonprofit organizations she serves. She enjoys creating meaningful opportunities for donors to engage and connect with her and the organizations she serves so they can make a big impact through their generosity.
As the former director of development for Operation Smile’s Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, Gemma served as a liaison between stakeholders at the regional, global and local level. She provided key leadership and support for Operation Smile’s US philanthropy program development and strategic program initiatives. Most recently, Gemma served as Senior Community Philanthropy Manager for The Trevor Project where she helped lead the mid-level team in raising $8.5M annually in support of its mission.
Gemma began her career in development as a communications specialist for the University of Miami where she helped compose key proposals that assisted the development team in exceeding a $1.6 billion campaign goal eight months ahead of deadline. In her subsequent role as director of advancement and alumni at The L.D. Pankey Institute, she was instrumental in building their advancement department and structuring their multimillion-dollar capital campaign.
